Clerk's Department

The Municipal Clerk is responsible for recording, without note or comment, all resolutions, decisions and other proceedings of the Council. The Clerk maintains the safekeeping of all the official records of the municipality.The Municipal Clerk is a Statutory Officer of the Corporation and is assigned duties by various Provincial Statutes, including the Municipal Act, the Municipal Elections Act, the Planning Act, the Local Improvement Act, the Drainage Act and the Vital Statistics Act.

Commissioner of Oath

A Commissioner of Oaths is a person authorized to take your oath or solemn affirmation when you sign an affidavit or a statutory declaration.  A Commissioner does not certify that the statements being made in the affidavit or statutory declaration are true, only certifies that an oath or solemn affirmation has been administered properly.

The person swearing the affidavit or statutory declaration must appear before the Commissioner, the document completed, but not signed.  The Commissioner will need identification to verify your identity, the authenticity of the signature, and administer an oath or solemn affirmation.
The Township of North Huron has several Commissioners on Staff.

The fee for Commissioner of Oath service is $15.00/document including HST.


Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

The Township of North Huron endeavours to provide as much information as possible to the public without the necessity of submitting a formal Freedom of Information Request.

The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act provides individuals with a right of access to certain records under the custody and control of the Municipality.  The Act also provides that certain costs can be charged for access to information, for example photocopy costs.  An application for a Freedom on Information requests must be accompanied with payment in the amount of $5.00.
