North Huron, ON – The risk of severe flooding has passed in North Huron. The Township of North Huron Emergency Control Group met early Saturday morning to assess flood conditions in Wingham.
The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority advised that the water will continue to rise slowly throughout the day and should reach its peak by early afternoon. North Huron Public Works officials are continuing to monitor water levels but believe the main threat has passed. While there may continue to be some minor flooding in the south end of the Town, no significant property damage is anticipated at this point. Any residents who left their homes as part of precautionary measures are safe to return.
In the meantime, Residents should continue to be vigilant near watercourses. North Huron continues to advise that all areas along the river, including parks and trails will be closed for the duration of the weekend and will be reassessed on Monday morning.
