NORTH HURON COUNCIL ADOPTS STRATEGIC PLAN
The Township of North Huron Council has officially adopted its Strategic Plan 2013-2018.
The plan reflects the ideas and comments received from residents, businesses, service providers, and non-profit agencies during an extensive community consultation phase. This input, along with contributions from Council and municipal staff, helped to define the strategic plan’s key areas of focus. They are as follows:
- economic development
- communications and citizen engagement
- fiscal responsibility and operational excellence
- healthy and safe communities
- valuing and protecting our natural environment
North Huron’s strategic plan is a tool that will guide Council and staff in setting priorities, making decisions, allocating resources, and managing operations. It will also inform North Huron residents and future residents about the direction of the organization and provide a road map for employees, as the plan incorporates every department and is connected to day-to-day operations.
“Council is committed to providing the political leadership necessary to realize our vision and our collective goals,” said Reeve Neil Vincent. “This strategic plan will help us address current and future challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and preserve and enhance our quality of life.”
“North Huron staff are ready to implement this plan in partnership with Council and the community, and deliver quality programs and services with a focus on customer service excellence,” said CAO/Clerk Gary Long. “This plan will not sit on a shelf – it’s a living document, which includes an implementation plan that will be managed by the CAO and closely monitored by Council.”
