Animal Control services through the township are largely for canine control. All dogs in the Township are required to register for Dog Licence. Recommendations for Wildlife Concerns is also offered through the township. Owners of 4 or more dogs will require a Kennel Licence.
Wildlife is a natural part of this community in both the rural and settlement areas. Wild animals that show abnormal or sick behavior should be reported to By-law Enforcement Officer.
Excrement
The by-law requires dog owners to remove excrement left by a dog, from property other than the premises of the owner of the dog. Any person contravening this provision is subject to a $100.00 fine.
Cats
The Township of North Huron does not have a cat by-law. Cat owners have a responsibility to keep their cat on their property, using a leash or harness if necessary. Owners are responsible to vaccinate and neuter or spray their cat to prevent attracting stray cats to the area.
