The Township of North Huron has a Property Standards By-law and a Clean Yards By-law which sets out the minimum standards for building and property maintenance. Standards prescribed in these By-laws are intended to outline the reasonable minimum maintenance and upkeep of yards, buildings and properties.

These standards are not meant to apply to construction work taking place on a site where permits are issued and work is actively taking place. However, the Township does recognize the importance of maintaining existing buildings. These standards are put in place to protect the health and safety of occupants and the public.

If you have concerns about a property standard issue or yard maintenance a formal complaint is required. Complaints of Non-Compliance must be submitted to the Township office on the prescribed form during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday or by email.

Note: Complaint forms may be used as evidence in a court of law should this matter proceed to that level.
