Theatre House Manager (Part-Time Casual)

The Township of North Huron is seeking one (1) Theatre House Manager who reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator, and is responsible for the opening and closing of the Wingham Town Hall Theatre, as well as the operations during a determined booking. The role ensures the smooth and safe functioning of theatre activities, providing excellent customer service and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Volunteer Ushers/Greeters to ensure welcoming and efficient patron experience.
  • Manage Bartenders and oversee beverage service during events
  • Oversee operations during a booking, including:
    • Execute opening procedures to prepare the theatre for patrons.
    • Manage cleaning of bathrooms and theatre spaces before and after events
    • Manage staff and volunteers to start rentals in a timely manner.
    • Greet and assist bus and tour groups with parking.
    • Turn the show over to the running crew efficiently to ensure a timely start.
    • Oversee emergency responses for patrons to maintain safety.
    • Responsible for evacuation protocol for patrons
    • Deposit all cash from Front of House sales securely and accurately.
    • Execute closing procedures to secure the theatre post-event.
    • Be fully informed and proactive in the marketing of future bookings to support theatre utilization.
    • Ensure that members of the public are greeted in a welcoming, courteous, and helpful manner to foster a positive community environment.
    • Be proactive on the theatre’s behalf in customer care, public safety, and comfort to enhance patron experience
    • Other duties as directed to support theatre operations and community engagement.

Job Requirements

  • Valid First Aid, CPR C certification
  • Valid Smart Serve certification
  • Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to handle diverse situations professionally.
  • Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate theatre bookings.

Rate of Pay: $20.17 - $27.23

Hours of Work: Casual, as needed, up to 15 -20 hours per week.

Recreation, Children's Services and Facilities Department

Director of Recreation, Children's Services and Facilities

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Recreation, Children’s Services & Facilities provides leadership and direction to the Recreation and Children’s Services Department.

This position is responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, administration, management, and operations of the Recreation and Children’s Services Department in accordance with Council approved municipal policies and procedures, operating budgets and in accordance with municipal by-laws, provincial and federal regulations.

This includes, but is not limited to, aquatic, fitness, and recreational programming; children’s programming, including on and offsite children’s programs and services. This position is also responsible for the administration and management of recreational and children’s services facilities inclusive of recreational fields, arenas, and childcare buildings.

The ideal candidate will be prepared to assume the position of a senior manager and have demonstrated progressive experience and applicable knowledge of Recreation and Children’s Services operations, budgeting, corporate long-term planning and achieving strategic goals and objectives.

Qualifications for Employment include:

  • Minimum degree required: Post-secondary education with a focus in Recreation Management, Recreation, Leisure and Children’s Programming, Public Administration or a related discipline.
  • Training in public administration or management, considered an asset.
  • Experience in the operation of recreation and children’s programming.

 

Applicants must be prepared to work 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The salary range for this position is $113,490 to $153,212 and includes group health benefits and participation in the OMERS pension plan.

Instructor Lifeguards (Weekday/Daytime Shifts) 

The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking up to two (2) Part-Time Lifeguard’s to support aquatics programming at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex Pool.

 

Duties include: Planning, implementing, and delivering swimming lessons, providing safe and enjoyable drop-in aquatic programs, and maintaining proper pool records in accordance with Ontario Health Regulations.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current National Lifeguard, LSS Swim Instructors, and Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED
  • Experience planning and conducting LSS Swim Program, guarding busy recreational swims, and working with adults, children and youth of various ages and abilities
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment
  • One (1) years' experience as an Assistant Instructor Lifeguard
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent physical condition.

 

Rate of Pay: Band 2 ($18.28 -$23.22 per hour).

Hours of Work: Up to 30 hours per week (availability to work weekday/daytime hours)

Children's Services

Registered Early Childhood Educator RECE (Full-Time Perm.)

Registered Early Childhood Educators support the planning and delivery of early learning according to the “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years 2015. Registered Early Childhood Educators also administer a play based, child focused, emergent curriculum in accordance with the Program Statement and Program Implementation Plans for North Huron Children’s Centre.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday with a minimum 37 ½ hours a week.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or education/experience deemed equivalent by the Township.
  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and be a
  • member in “good standing”.
  • Working knowledge of all government documents and Acts that may pertain to early childhood education, specifically the Child Care and Early Learning Act.
  • Knowledge of best practices for engaging with children and equipment and the ability to implement a stimulating educational environment for children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Training.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check Screening as a condition of employment.

Public Works and Facilities Department

Public Works and Facilities Summer Student (Full-Time Temp.)

The Township of North Huron is seeking (2) summer students to work within our Public Works and Facilities Department.  Under the direction of the Public Works & Facilities Lead Hands, the Public Works & Facilities Summer Student will perform various tasks relating to the maintenance and upkeep of municipal infrastructure including but not limited to Township cemeteries, green spaces, parks, gardens, flowers, trails, and facilities. The majority of work will be performed outdoors and will include grass cutting, restoration and upkeep of walking trails, flower beds and green spaces, as well as general maintenance of municipal facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school Education or Post-Secondary Education
  • Valid class G2 or G driver’s licence

The ideal candidate will posses:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a pick-up truck, tractor, riding mower, trimmer, push mower, power tools and hand tools.
  • Adequate knowledge of equipment and vehicle maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to handle physical demands of operating tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg (55 pounds).

This posting is for current vacant student positions. Applicants must be prepared to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. The rate of pay for this position is $22.69 per hour.
