Office of the CAO

 Volunteer Theatre House Manager

The Township of North Huron is seeking one (1) Volunteer Theatre House Manager who reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator, and is responsible for the opening and closing of the Wingham Town Hall Theatre, as well as the operations during a determined booking. The role ensures the smooth and safe functioning of theatre activities, providing excellent customer service and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Volunteer Ushers/Greeters to ensure welcoming and efficient patron experience.
  • Manage Bartenders and oversee beverage service during events
  • Oversee operations during a booking, including:
  • Execute opening procedures to prepare the theatre for patrons.
  • Manage cleaning of bathrooms and theatre spaces before and after events
  • Manage staff and volunteers to start rentals in a timely manner.
  • Greet and assist bus and tour groups with parking.
  • Turn the show over to the running crew efficiently to ensure a timely start.
  • Oversee emergency responses for patrons to maintain safety.
  • Responsible for evacuation protocol for patrons
  • Deposit all cash from Front of House sales securely and accurately.
  • Execute closing procedures to secure the theatre post-event.
  • Be fully informed and proactive in the marketing of future bookings to support theatre utilization.
  • Ensure that members of the public are greeted in a welcoming, courteous, and helpful manner to foster a positive community environment.
  • Be proactive on the theatre’s behalf in customer care, public safety, and comfort to enhance patron experience
  • Other duties as directed to support theatre operations and community engagement.

  • Valid First Aid, CPR C certification
  • Valid Smart Serve certification
  • Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to handle diverse situations professionally.
  • Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate theatre bookings.

Hours of Work: Variable up to 20 hour per week.

Rink Attendant (September to June)

The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking one (1) casual Rink Attendant to support public skating programs throughout September to June at the Blyth Arena.

Key Responsibilities:
•To provide supervision to patrons utilizing the arena for public skating
•To sell admissions to the public during public skating times
•To follow safe cash handling procedures
•To maintain a professional attitude when dealing with other staff members and the public
•To make sure safety procedures are followed at all times
•To inform the supervisor of any problems that may arise
•To attend meetings held by the supervisor, as needed
•To inform the supervisor of supplies that are needed
•To submit pay sheets biweekly

Minimum Requirements:
1.Formal Education
Minimum degree required
Some Secondary School
Current First Aid and CPR

2.Work Experience Minimum                                                                    Years Required

Experience with working with the public (i.e. volunteer, part time job etc.)      6 Months
Experience in recreation                                                                              Considered an Asset

Casual PD Day Camp Leader

The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking one (1) casual PD Day Camp Leader to support children day camp programs throughout the school year (September to June) on scheduled school professional development (PD) days.

 

Key Responsibilities:
•Provide supervision and support to children from the community enrolled in the PD Day Camp programs
•Plan and implement PD Day Camp program activities in consultation with the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor
•Supporting the diverse range of needs of all children
•Establish and maintain a stable, healthy and safe environment for children to enable them to contribute and participate in the PD Day Camp programs
•Be a mentor and role model to children by modelling appropriate behaviours and attitudes
•Provide age-appropriate activities that promote both child development and fun

 

Minimum Requirements:
•Secondary School
•Post Secondary education with a field of study in children and youth considered an asset
•Previous experience working with children
•Availability to work from September to June on school PD days
•Current First-Aid & CPR Certificate
•Successful candidates will be required to provide a current criminal record check as a condition of employment

Hours of Work: Subject to sufficient child enrolment in the North Huron Recreation PD Day Camp Programs throughout the year. The shifts will be up to 8 hours in length for pre-determined school PD Day dates as prescribed by the Ministry of Education for the 2025/2026 school year.

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Child Care Services 

Temporary Full-time Early Childhood Educator Assistant position is available immediately. Successful applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced busy childcare environment and be able to deal effectively with parents, children, and team members.

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Working knowledge of all government documents and Acts that may pertain to Early Childhood Education, specifically the Child Care and Early Learning Act
  • Knowledge of best practices for engaging with children and equipment and the ability to implement a stimulating educational environment for children
  • Computer literate including use of photo printing and word processing 
  • CPR and Current First Aid Training 
  • WHMIS Training
  • Vulnerable Sector Check

Applicants with Early Childhood Education experience and who are a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators would be preferred. Experience in Emergent Curriculum is an asset. Applicants with child development training will also be considered.

Before and After School Childcare (Multiple Positions) PT

Part-time Before and After School Childcare positions are available immediately. Successful applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced busy childcare environment and be to deal effectively with parents, children, and team members.
Before and After School Hours are: 6:30am-9:00am & 2:30pm-6:00pm. Positions will work out of Maitland River Elementary School and Sacred Heart Catholic School. Additional hours may be scheduled at the North Huron Childcare Centre.
