Senior Instructor Lifeguard (Part-Time)

Reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, the Senior Instructor/ Lifeguard is jointly responsible, along with the entire aquatic staff, for the operation of programs in the aquatic facilities in the Township of North Huron. The main facility is currently the swimming pool at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex. The Senior Instructor/ Lifeguard also supervises the aquatics program staff working at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex during the hours that the Aquatic Supervisor is not in the building.

The ideal candidate will possess the required certifications: 

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C
  • National Lifeguard (NL)
  • Lifesaving Learn to Swim Instructor
  • Aquafit Certification is considered an asset

Qualifications for Employment include:

  • Being a team player
  • Excellent customer service skills

Applicants must be prepared to work casual hours, Monday to Friday between 7:45 am and 4:00 pm. The rate of pay for the position will begin at $18.20 - $22.75 per hour.

Instructor Lifeguard (Part-Time)

The ideal candidate will possess the required certifications:

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C - National Lifeguard (NL)
  • Lifesaving Learn to Swim Instructor
  • Aquafit Certification, considered an asset
  • Waterart Certification, considered an asset

Qualifications for Employment include:

  • Being a team player
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills

Applicants must be prepared to work daytime hours on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Other shifts may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

The rate of pay on the 2022 pay grid for this position is $15.75 to $18.53 per hour.

Part-time Early Childhood Educators (PTECE) & Casual Supply Staff (CST) 

Part-time Early Childhood Educators and Casual Supply Staff positions are available immediately. Successful applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced busy childcare environment and be able to deal effectively with parents, children and team members. 

The ideal candidate would possess: 

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Strong time management skills 
  • Well organized
  • Working knowledge of all government documents and Acts that may pertain to Early Childhood Education, specifically the Child Care and Early Learning Act
  • Knowledge of best practices for engaging with children and equipment and the ability to implement a stimulating educational environment for children
  • Computer literate including use of photo printing and word processing 
  • CPR and Current First Aid Training 
  • WHMIS Training
  • Vulnerable Sector Check 

Applicants with Early Childhood Education experience and who are a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators would be preferred. Experience in Emergent Curriculum is an asset. Applicants with child development training will also be considered.

Summer Aquatic Head Guard (1) - Aquatic Instructor / Guard (3)

We are seeking positive, outgoing, team oriented, professional individuals to fill the above-mentioned positions. Duties include: Planning, implementing, and conducting summer swim lessons, providing safe and enjoyable drop-in aquatic programs, and maintaining proper pool records in accordance with Ontario Health Regulations.

Qualifications for Employment – Head Guard (wage $17.11-$21.39)

• Current National Lifeguard, LSS Swim Instructors, and Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED

• Current AQX or Aquafit certification

• Available to work full-time hours in June, July and August

• Previous experience working for the Township of North Huron for at least 12 months is an asset

• Experience with supervising a staff team, providing behavioral strategies for adults, children and youth of various ages and abilities while problem solving and providing excellent customer service

• Valid/Current Vulnerable Sector check required

 

Qualifications for Employment – Instructor/Guard (wage $15.75-$18.53)

• Current National Lifeguard, LSS Swim Instructors, and Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED

• Available to work full-time hours in July and August (Instructor/Guard)

• Experience planning and conducting LSS Swim Program, guarding busy recreational swims, and working with adults, children and youth of various ages and abilities

Duties Include: Planning, implementing and supervising summer programs and special events, while ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants with a fun atmosphere.

Qualifications for Employment – Supervisor (wage $17.11-$21.39)

• Available to work full-time hours in June, July and August

• Previous experience supervising a staff team is an asset

 

Qualifications for Employment – Leader (wage $15.75-$18.53)

• Available to work full-time hours in July and August (Leader)

• Previous experience leading and interacting with children and youth of various ages is an asset

 

Both roles require the following qualifications:

• Experience in the organization and implementation of activities for children and youth of various ages is an asset

• Current First-Aid & CPR Certificate

• Valid/Current Vulnerable Sector check required
