Aquatics Coordinator (Full-Time Permanent)

Reporting to the Director of Recreation & Children’ s Services, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all aquatics programming, including staff supervision, scheduling, public swims, swim lessons, AquaFit, as well as membership growth and retention for the Township of North Huron in accordance with approved policies and procedures.

 

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the direct supervision of all aquatics program staff working at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current National Lifeguard Service ( NLS)
  • Lifesaving Swim Society
  • Lifesaving Instructor
  • AQX Certification or Aquafit/ Water Art Certification
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR- C

The ideal candidate will posses:

  • Three (3) years of experience in an aquatic or recreational supervisory role
  • Previous experience as a senior/ head lifeguard or swimming instructor
  • Knowledge and experience in pool maintenance and pool chemicals
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Band 6 ($28.89- $36.11 per hour)
Pension: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Retirement System ( OMERS)
Benefits: Full benefits through Equitable Life

Senior Instructor Lifeguard (Full-Time Permanent)

Reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator, The Senior Instructor Lifeguard performs all the duties of a Head
Instructor Lifeguard and is responsible under the Aquatic Coordinator or designate for the operation of
all programs in the aquatic facilities in the Township of North Huron. The main facility is currently the
swimming pool at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex. The Senior Instructor Guard
supervises aquatic program staff (Head Instructor Lifeguards, Instructor Lifeguards and Assistant
Instructor Lifeguards) during the absence of the Aquatic Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge and experience in pool operation, maintenance, and regulations.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “ C” Level.
  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification ( NLS).
  • Lifesaving Swim Instructor Aquafit/ Water Art/ AQX Certification.
  • Current Lifesaving Instructor, Bronze Examiner, National Lifeguard Instructor and Examiner, and
  • First Aid Instructor and Examiner are considered as an asset.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as an Instructor Lifeguard.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as an Aquafit Instructor.
  • Strong supervisory and teaching skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent physical condition.

Rate of Pay: Band 4 ($19.83 - $ 24.79 per hour)
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week ( typical shifts will be daily from Monday to Friday)

*Must be at least 18 years of age to work in a licensed childcare facility.

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education

  • Working knowledge of all government documents and Acts that may pertain to Early Childhood Education, specifically the Child Care and Early Learning Act
  • Knowledge of best practices for engaging with children and equipment and the ability to implement a stimulating educational environment for children
  • Computer literate including use of photo printing and word processing 
  • CPR and Current First Aid Training 
  • WHMIS Training
  • Vulnerable Sector Check

Applicants with Early Childhood Education experience and who are a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators would be preferred. Experience in Emergent Curriculum is an asset. Applicants with child development training will also be considered.

Before and After School Childcare (Multiple Positions) PT

Part-time Before and After School Childcare positions are available immediately. Successful applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced busy childcare environment and be to deal effectively with parents, children, and team members.
Before and After School Hours are: 6:30am-9:00am & 2:30pm-6:00pm. Positions will work out of Maitland River Elementary School and Sacred Heart Catholic School. Additional hours may be scheduled at the North Huron Childcare Centre.
