All dogs in North Huron must be licensed each year and the dog must wear their dog tag at all times. Dog owners must clean up their dog's waste on any property other than their own. This includes private and public property. Undisposed dog waste is annoying (and disgusting) to adults, children and other animals. Owners must abide by “stoop and scoop” regulations. All dog owners must keep their dogs on a leash at all times.
Canine Control is enforced through the North Huron Animal Control By-Law. The By-Law includes the licensing and regulations required to register a dog; the license fee; the registration of dogs; regulations around the running at large of dogs within the township. For a copy of the current By-law please contact the North Huron Town Hall.
An owner or boarder of a dog(s) shall within 10 days of becoming an owner or boarder, and thereafter on or before the 1st day of February cause such dog(s) to be licensed for one year. A $15.00 late payment charge shall be assessed in addition to the license fee after the due date. Proof of Rabies Vaccination must be available at the time of purchase.
Dog tags can be purchased at the Township of North Huron Office in person.
