North Huron, is a vibrant community just an hour west of Waterloo, an hour and a half north of London, and conveniently situated less than a half-hour drive from the sandy shores of Lake Huron. Rooted in a rich agricultural and rural heritage, North Huron is home to productive agricultural enterprises, thriving volunteer groups, and beautiful and rugged landscapes. The Village of Blyth, the Township of East Wawanosh, and the Town of Wingham are the three areas that collectively constitute North Huron, fostering a business community characterized by its growth and development. Residents and visitors to North Huron have access to an urban array of services while still exuding the small-town appeal, as we place immense value on our history and the authentic hometown atmosphere that define our community's identity.

Job / Career Fairs

The Township of North Huron hosted a Job Fair for the regional employers and job seekers on September 18th, 2024, 3:00 to 7:00 PM, at Wingham Columbus Centre. 

Sponsored By: Huron County Economic Development and Four County Labour Market Planning Board.

Partnered by: Huron Chambers of Commerce, Municipality of South Bruce, Huron Manufacturing Association, Employment Services, The Centre of Employment and Learning, Employment Services, VPI Employment Services.

Exhibitors: Sun Life, Gay Lea, TG Minto, College Boreal, Fritz-Alder Precast, Huronia Welding and Industrial Supplies, Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance, M&N Final Touch Cleaning, Huron Tractor, Listowel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, LiUNA Local 1059, Braemar Retirement Centre, CarePartners, Community Living Wingham and District, New Life Mills, Robert's Farm Equipment Sales Inc., Howick Mutual Insurance Company, and Fanshawe College.

It was wonderful to see such a diverse group of job seekers of all ages connecting with local employers. The positive feedback we received highlights the event's success, and we're excited to hear that many employers found great candidates.

The Leland and Thora Vance Fund - Recreation Stream

About the Fund

The Leland and Thora Vance Fund - Recreation Grants is a grant making program to provide and maintain recreational facilities to enhance the quality of life for the general population of Wingham, now and into the future.

Proposals are invited from organizations providing a public space for broad participation in community recreation activities including; sports, fitness, outdoor education, playgrounds, and trails.

Grant Overview

The types of organizations that can apply for funding include:

  • Registered charitable organizations.

  • Qualified donees recognized by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

  • Not-for-Profit organizations through a partnership with a fiscal partner. (This partnership allows WRCF to provide the fiscal partner with the funding on your behalf. If you plan to partner this way, they would be your organization’s “fiscal partner” for this funding. If you want more information about how this works – contact us, we can help. For more information about qualified donees and/or fiscal partners click here.)

The Fund's total amount available is approximately $95,000.

Funding must be used between November 1, 2022 and October 31, 2023 for expenses incurred over the same period.

Community Futures Huron

About Community Futures Huron (CFH)

CFH is a non-profit Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) that works in partnership with Industry Canada to "helping Entrepreneurs Make Their Futures in Huron County Since 1993". This goal is achieved by providing management counselling, business loans, and support for community projects that strengthen the local economy. 

Every year, we at Community Futures Huron (CFH) help new businesses get off the ground. Key emerging business opportunities include agriculture, renewable energy, manufacturing, tourism, retail services, and the creative economy.

CFH offers small business owners and entrepreneurs the following resources and services:

  • Consultations with a qualified business consultant
  • Assistance in registering your business name - obtaining your BIN, HST, payroll and WSIB numbers
  • Business plan reviews
  • Workshops and seminars, free or low-cost
  • Networking and professional development opportunities
