Fire Department

The Fire Department of North Huron operates from 2 fire stations located in Wingham and Blyth with a staff of Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Prevention Officer, a District Chief at each station, 4 Captains at each station and 32 firefighters.

The Fire Department of North Huron began in 2010 when the former departments of Blyth & Area Fire Department and Wingham & Area Fire Department amalgamated into 1 Department. FDNH is proud to serve the residents of North Huron, Morris-Turnberry, Central Huron and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.

Message from the Fire Chief

Dear Residents of North Huron,

As Fire Chief of the Fire Department of North Huron, I am both honored and proud to lead a team of 44 dedicated firefighters who are deeply committed to serving and protecting our community. Our department provides a range of emergency response services, including fire suppression, extrication and rescue operations, and emergency medical assistance.

North Huron is fortunate to have 44 volunteer firefighters who are highly trained and prepared to respond to emergencies at any time. These remarkable individuals are more than just responders, they are a competent and caring group of local citizens who willingly make personal sacrifices for the protection and well-being of our community. Their dedication and selflessness are truly inspiring.

In addition to their emergency response duties, our firefighters are devoted to enhancing fire safety through public education. We actively engage with schools, service groups, and other community organizations to spread important fire safety information.

We focus on the critical need for working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. These devices are essential for early warning in case of a fire or CO emergency, giving you and your loved ones the best chance to evacuate safely. Our firefighters are committed to helping every household in North Huron understand how to properly install, maintain, and test these alarms.

Our team’s dedication extends beyond emergency response. We are here to support and educate our community to create a safer environment for everyone. Thank you for your trust and support. Together, we will continue to work towards a safer North Huron.

Sincerely,
Chad Kregar
Director of Fire and Emergency Management (Fire Chief)
