Fire Department
The Fire Department of North Huron operates from 2 fire stations located in Wingham and Blyth with a staff of Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Prevention Officer, a District Chief at each station, 4 Captains at each station and 32 firefighters.
The Fire Department of North Huron began in 2010 when the former departments of Blyth & Area Fire Department and Wingham & Area Fire Department amalgamated into 1 Department. FDNH is proud to serve the residents of North Huron, Morris-Turnberry, Central Huron and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.
Message from the Fire Chief
Welcome to the Township of North Huron and its Fire Department's website. Our goal is to provide you with fire safety and fire prevention information that will assist you and your family with valuable life safety information. As well, we will offer a general overview of the services you can expect from the local fire service.
Prevention programs include public education, fire safety inspections, fire code enforcement, and fire safety plans review. The public education programs provide residents of all ages with information on how to protect themselves, their homes, families, co-workers and our community on a day-to-day basis. Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are law in Ontario, you will find important information on the use, installation and maintenance of these alarms on our webpage.
Emergency response services include fire suppression, extrication and other rescue operations, and emergency medical assistance. North Huron is very fortunate to have 43 volunteer firefighters who are highly trained in the delivery of these services. These dedicated men and women are a competent and caring group of local citizens willing to make personal sacrifices for the protection and good of the community. They are prepared to respond to an emergency incident at any time.
I am very proud to be part of this team. Please enjoy reading though these pages to learn more about our services and the programs.
Sincerely,
Kent Readman
Fire Chief
