North Huron Child Care Programs

Infant

Infant

Location North Huron Children's Centre

Age 0-18 months

Ratio 1 to 3

Room capacity 10 infants with 3 RECE's

Our infant program is staffed with quality nurturing Registered Early Childhood Educators that provide a home away from home environment. Our focus is to build strong relationships with each family and to build on individual interests and needs through purposeful play and learning experiences. We encourage the infants to explore through hands on experiences, positive adult–infant interactions, following personalized schedules including indoor and outdoor play. Communication daily is provided through our Hi Mama program which allows parents to see every aspect of their child's day including daily routine of eating, sleeping, bottle feeding, diapering changes and action photos.

Room capacity 10 toddlers with 2 RECE's

The toddler program helps assist your child in achieving those developmental milestones by exploring on their own while building on their confidence and self- worth. Our toddler rooms are designed to encourage active and purposeful play that promotes social interactions with peers and adults. Using loose parts in each room gives each child the chance to discover, learn and create enriching experiences. Their learning experiences will continue outdoors as well on the toddler playground which provides a chance to discover nature and move their bodies while actively playing. The staff communicates often throughout the day using the "HiMama" program which encourages families to be involved in their day to day activities.

Preschool

Preschool

Location North Huron Children's Centre

Age 2 ½ to 4yrs

Ratio 1 to 8

Room capacity 16 preschool with 2 RECE's

Our preschool program allows children the opportunity to explore hands on real life meaningful experiences. This can be seen within small group interactions with their peers and adults within the program. Staff follow the child's lead and provide opportunities that expand and grow their learning experiences and encourages the preschoolers to test their thinking and problem solving skills. Staff are aware of children's curiosity and wonder. This includes promoting self-regulation choices for things like snacks, meals, creative opportunities, play styles and emotional expression. Each child has a personal portfolio documenting their creative discoveries that demonstrates how their learning happens and is communicated and shared with their families. Some of these learning stories are shared on our centre Facebook page.

Stimulating areas are available throughout the classroom such as creative arts, dramatic play, manipulative/cognitive area, science, nature and so much more. Children are encouraged to explore materials, toys and environments in meaningful ways to them.
