There has been a break to a main watermain in Wingham, at the corner of Albert Street West and Josephine Street. At the time of the initial break, residents may have experienced low water pressure or a complete loss of water service. The break area has been isolated, and regular pressure should have returned to most properties. Repair crews are en-route. The repair timeline is currently unknown. Please continue to monitor the North Huron website and social media accounts for further updates. All properties in Wingham should keep a tap running until the water runs clear (approx. 2-3 hours), to flush the rusty water. The rusty water is treated, but will have an undesirable taste.
Update: 4:10 P.M. July 9, 2026 - Josephine Street will be closed between Charles Street and Alfred Street; Albert Street will be closed between Park Drive and Alice Street for watermain repairs.

The sidewalk on the north side of John Street East, between Carling Terrace and Summit Drive has been closed in association with the Standpipe reconstruction.
Beginning June 10, properties within a designated radius of the Wingham Standpipe will receive a home visit or information pamphlet at their door from OZA Inspections Ltd. This company will be conducting inspections of properties (after the resident has scheduled it), to verify existing building conditions. Completion of these inspections are important, in the unlikely event that issues arise during demolition or construction of the standpipe. Further information will be mailed to the impacted properties in the coming days.
