The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking up to three (3) positive, team oriented, professional individuals to join our Aquatics team in September 2026 and support the aquatics programming at the Wescast Community Complex Pool.

Duties include: Planning, implementing, and delivering swimming lessons, providing safe and enjoyable drop-in aquatic programs, and maintaining proper pool records in accordance with Ontario Health Regulations. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current National Lifeguard, LSS Swim Instructors, and Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED.
  • Experience planning and conducting LSS Swim Program, guarding busy recreational swims, and working with adults, children and youth of various ages and abilities.
  • Valid/Current Vulnerable Sector check required.
  • One (1) years' experience as an Assistant Instructor Lifeguard.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Rate of Pay: Band 2 ($18.28 -$23.22 per hour).

Hours of Work: Part-time, up to 30 hours per week (there are a variety of shifts available including daytime, evening and weekend).

The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking three (3) casual PD Day Camp Leaders to support children day camp programs throughout the school year (September to June) on scheduled school professional development (PD) days.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and support to children from the community enrolled in the PD Day Camp programs
  • Plan and implement PD Day Camp program activities in consultation with the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor
  • Supporting the diverse range of needs of all children
  • Establish and maintain a stable, healthy and safe environment for children to enable them to contribute and participate in the PD Day Camp programs
  • Be a mentor and role model to children by modelling appropriate behaviours and attitudes
  • Provide age-appropriate activities that promote both child development and fun

Minimum Requirements:

  • Secondary School
  • Post Secondary education with a field of study in children and youth considered an asset
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Availability to work from September to June on school PD days
  • Current First-Aid & CPR Certificate

Reporting to the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor, the Recreation Administrative Assistant performs a variety of administrative, clerical, marketing and customer support functions for the North Huron Recreation Department.

Key duties include:

  • Provides back-up coverage for the front office staff during absences.
  • Provides frontline customer service at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex for the North Huron Recreation and Children’s Services department.
  • Greets patrons, responds to inquiries, answers and directs phone calls, and provides general information relative to recreational opportunities available in the community.
  • Enters client information into recreation software system. Creates new client accounts, takes admission, processes payments for admissions, program registrations, facility bookings, and campground reservations.
  • Performs various general accounting duties as appropriate including: cash receipt, cash reports, etc.
  • Assists the managers/supervisors/coordinators and staff with various administrative tasks as agreed to by the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor and/or the Director of Recreation & Children’s Services.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Secondary School diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in office administration or other education deemed equivalent by the Township considered an asset
  • Previous experience as an administrative assistant or other clerical experience deemed equivalent by the Township
  • Knowledge and experience in marketing/promotion software programs (e.g. Canva)
  • Previous municipal recreation experience considered an asset
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong word processing skills (preferably on Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure and meet competing deadlines 

Rate of Pay: Band 3 ($18.96 - $25.60 per hour)

Hours of Work: Less than 37.5 hours per week (will include weekends and evenings as needed)

The Township of North Huron is seeking a Permanent Full-time Facilities Operator to assist with the operations of the North Huron Township facilities.

Under the direction of the Facilities Lead Hand the Facilities Operator II provides maintenance, operational and custodial services to the municipal recreational facilities within North Huron. This position also performs parks maintenance services for the municipal parklands within North Huron. The Facilities Operator operates within the budgets, objectives, policies and programs approved by Council and all applicable by-laws and Ontario regulations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Arena Refrigeration Certificate.
  • Certified Pool Operator or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in recreation parks & facilities or other experience deemed equivalent by the Township of North Huron.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with refrigeration equipment.
  • Experience or background in trades would be considered an asset.
  • Certification or willingness to become certified as Certified Ice Technician designation required.
  • Certification or willingness to become certified for Working at Heights and Operating Lift Certification required.
  • Certification or willingness to become certified in First Aid and CPR with AED required.
  • Excellent physical condition with ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (shift work including evenings and weekends are required)

Rate of Pay: Band 5 ($26.01- $35.12 per hour)

The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking one (1) casual Rink Attendant to support public skating programs throughout October to April at the Blyth Arena.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide supervision to patrons utilizing the arena for public skating

  • To sell admissions to the public during public skating times

  • To follow safe cash handling procedures

  • To maintain a professional attitude when dealing with other staff members and the public

  • To make sure safety procedures are followed at all times

  • To inform the supervisor of any problems that may arise

  • To attend meetings held by the supervisor, as needed

  • To inform the supervisor of supplies that are needed

  • To submit pay sheets bi-weekly

Minimum Requirements:

  • Secondary school education (completed or in progress)

  • Current First Aid and CPR

  • Experience with working with the public (i.e. volunteer, part-time job etc.)

  • Experience in recreation considered an asset

Public Works and Facilities Department

The Public Works Seasonal Roads Operator is responsible for performing a variety of public works tasks in the Township of North Huron with main responsibilities in winter maintenance activities in accordance with the Township of North Huron policies and procedures as approved by Council. 

Responsibilities:

  • Snowplowing, sanding and salting
  • Winter patrol duties as assigned
  • Operation of a road grader and other heavy equipment, vehicles, power tools and hand tools as required safely and efficiently
  • Maintain all vehicles and equipment
  • Determine maintenance needs to meet the Minimum Maintenance Standards
  • Participate in on-call duties on a rotating basis with other qualified staff to respond to Public Works emergencies after hours and on weekends
  • Other duties as assigned by the Roads Supervisor and the Director of Public Works & Facilities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or Post-Secondary Education
  • Valid Class G license required; Valid Class D license with Z endorsement considered an asset
  • Heavy machinery operating experience and/or certifications considered an asset
  • Previous public works or winter maintenance experience considered an asset

Start Date: November 15, 2026

End Date: April 15, 2027

Rate of Pay: Band 5 ($26.01 to 35.12) plus vacation pay

Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours per week (shifts include evenings and weekends as required)
